Forrester Research has released two reports on RSS: one is a beginner's manual and the other is a best practices document. $600 for the two. In her blog, Charlene Li mentions an interest datum point: only two percent of North American Internet households "use RSS." The quotes are Charlene's, her point being that people can be using RSS obliviously, especially in My Yahoo! where the term "RSS" is not used. Actually, that's good marketing on Yahoo!'s part, and goes right along with other research indicating that many people don't recognize blogs when they see them. While this trend of obliviouslness makes measurement difficult, it's basically good for consumers. The technology should be, and increasingly is, transparent.
